On 1 August 2012, Imperial College London and Qatar Foundation hosted an international summit in London, with the objective of catalyzing the innovations we need to meet modern health challenges such as the non-communicable disease epidemic and achieving universal access to healthcare.
More than 500 health leaders attended from over 40 countries including UK Prime Minister David Cameron, Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, His Royal Highness The Duke of York, and over a dozen health ministers. The feedback was extremely positive and revealed great enthusiasm for establishing a new international network of health reformers collaborating to improve the uptake of health service innovation.
The World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) was the successor to the 2012 summit and was held on 10 and 11 December 2013 in Doha, as an initiative by Qatar Foundation and under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser.
WISH was an even more impactful meeting, being held over two days and helping to establish the Summit as the ‘Davos of healthcare’. We hope to continue to attract an international, varied and influential group, retaining the distinctive mix of public, private and academic sectors.
