Background

The Lucian Leape Institute was established in 2007 by the United States’ National Patient Safety Foundation. The Institute is charged with defining strategic paths and calls to action for the field of patient safety, offering vision and context for the many efforts under way within healthcare, and providing the leverage necessary for system-level change. Its members comprise national thought leaders with a common interest in patient safety.

Susan Edgman-Levitan, PA is Executive Director of the John D Stoeckle Center for Primary Care Innovation at Massachusetts General Hospital. She is a member of the Lucian Leape Institute and also served as Patient Engagement Forum Chair at WISH 2013, co-authoring its report Partnering with Patients, Families, and Communities For Health: A Global Imperative.
